Dragon's Gem

Overview: Dragon's Gem is a vertical slice of a Unity prototype focused on level design.

Role: Only member of the project.

Duration: 1 month.

Engine: Unity.

Acquired skills: I had the opportunity to learn more about coding, but the main outcome was an extensive knowledge of level design principles. I also learnt what design choices to make in order to elicit a specific emotion and what tools to give to the player to accomplish the desires caused by the said emotion.

Improved skills: I improved my coding skills and level design skills.

Areas for improvement: The game is only a prototype, thus it has bugs that need to be fixed (animations, triggers), and it needs more and better refined NPCs, and a refined PC.

What I'm proud of: The level design of the game is what I focused mostly on.  For example, how the PC starts in a small room and then goes outside and can see this huge environment is a design choice that plays on the contrast of the two settings. I'm also proud of the fact that the game has gameplay focused choices (actions that the PC performs that have consequences) rather than narrative focused ones, since I've used these in my other games already.
